Introducing Lewisham Young Leaders’ Academy
As we know, Eastside Young Leaders’ was the first young leaders' academy in the UK and as we celebrate 18+ years we acknowledge our newest grandchild, the Lewisham Young Leaders Academy - set up by our sister academy WYLA!
Since our genesis in 2002, we have seen the establishment of Southside, Westside and Milton Keynes young leaders’ academies, and today we congratulate Westside for their recent news.
Lewisham Young Leaders’ will open its doors at St Dunstan’s College in September this year - in partnership with Lewisham Council and St Dunstan’s, in response to attainment and outcomes disparities for African Caribbean children.
Lewisham Young Leaders’ Academy (LYLA) will support the community of Lewisham through the traditional Young Leaders’ Academy teachings of leadership, life skills and opportunities. The academy will work closely with St Dunstan’s College, one of the most prestigious independent schools in London.
This will no doubt further help students access high quality educational and learning programmes, regardless of their background. This is a significant step not only for Westside Young Leaders but crucially also for the community of Lewisham, which will no doubt benefit greatly from the excellent support provided.
From all of us here at Eastside, a massive congratulations to the WYLA trustees and the incredible team that is: Andrew, David, Mark and Kirsty.
