LBC News update - Nigeria
As part of our Let’s Boycott Christmas campaign, we raised money for various organisations across Africa. St Catherine’s Anglican Girl’s Grammar School, a small school in rural Nigeria was one of them.
In February 2021, St. Catherine’s School received £3500 from the “Let's Boycott Christmas” campaign.
Let’s take a look at the impact this had.
Some of this money was used to help the school alumni association, SCOGA UK, purchase a school bus.
Previously the school would borrow a bus from another school whenever they needed to go on school trips.
They were so excited that they now have a school bus of their own!
Some of the money was used to create a web conference room that would enable the school to have regular meaningful exchanges with students at Eastside. The room was kitted out with a TV, a laptop, a PA system and a router for internet access.
And finally, a portion of the money was also used to repair and overhaul their existing computers. There are even plans afoot to employ an additional trained Computer Science teacher who will be able to upskill other teachers and students!
There is still much to be done but with your help all things are possible!
